Today is an exciting day for Registered Dietitians as they are recognized as food and nutrition experts
Hi Friends!
Today is an exciting day for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) as they have a day to be recognized as the food and nutrition experts! Nutrition information is provided by the masses throughout media types, however, not all of that information comes from RDNs. In fact many people claim to be nutrition experts but in fact don’t have the same training as RDNS. RDNs are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are RDNs. RDNs go through a strenuous academic training, have to complete a hands-on dietetic internship, and finally pass an exam before they can practice.
I chose the career as a Registered Dietitian during my first semester in college and have never looked back. When I interact with people who are disattisfied with their career choice I feel thankful. Each and every day I get the opportunity to turn my passion into improving the lives of other through health and wellbeing into a career that I love so much. I appreciate the helping profession in which I have the chance to share my knowledge and information with the public everyday.
Most days of the week I feel thankful and lucky I chose a career that offers so many rewarding aspects. Coaching someone to make dietary changes which result in weight loss is rewarding. Getting feedback that a family incorporated one of my meal or snack recipes from the blog into their diet is rewarding. Offering nutrition tips and advice on live television is rewarding. One of the exciting things about being a registered dietitian is all the different opportunities to reach the public through both traditional and non-traditional approaches.
Here are some of my favorite career highlights as a Registered Dietitian:
My very first television interview – it happened to be on Good Morning America! |
Helping to Ring in the NASDAQ bell back in 2012! You have to look hard to find me but I am the second person from the right |
My first job in Bronx, NY with some pretty amazing dietitians. That lab coat tho! |
A television interview for a local news station |
It was a huge bucket list item to attend Blog Brulee in Fall 2016. This retreat is designed to help build the blogging and photography skills of health focused bloggers |
And that folks is why I am proud to be a Registered Dietitan!
