Today is National Donut Day! A great day in my books! What is not to love about celebrating one of my favorite foods?! Unfortunately this Registered Dietitians really likes donuts. All foods in moderation right? The good news is that I control my intake and eat responsibly.
I am always on a mission to find the “best donut”. On my search to find the best donut I have tried many of the top rated donut shops in Atlanta.
Sublime Donuts |
Revolution Donuts |
Sarah Donuts |
Not sure I have found the best donut yet, but they all have been mighty good. If I am going to splurge on the calories it better be worth it! Sublime Donuts offer a wide selection on non-tradition donut flavors such as Smores, Sweet Potato Cake, and Salted Carmel with Reduced Balsamic Vinegar. Revolution Donuts intrigued me the most as they offer baked and gluten free donut options. Lastly, Sarah Donuts offers quality donuts in traditional flavors.
During my quest to find the “best” donut I decided to try my hand at making my own. Baking my own donuts with lower calorie ingredients means I can enjoy them more often! Here are some of my favorite donuts recipes from my kitchen creations.
Baked Whole Grain Maple Glazed Donuts |
Baked Pumpkin Glazed Donuts |
Whole Grain Chocolate Chip Donuts |
And there are more recipes in the works, so stay tuned! Maybe someday I will open my own “healthier” donut shop! One day people, one day!
